Broadcom Inc., a major supplier to Apple Inc., hinted that the latest iPhones will be released later than usual this year.
Broadcom Chief Executive Officer Hock Tan discussed a "major product cycle delay" at a "large North American mobile phone" customer during an earnings call with analysts on Thursday.
Tan often refers to Apple in this way. This time, the executive said the delay means the surge in wireless revenue that Broadcom experienced will come a quarter later than usual this year.
Specifically, the increase is not expected until the fourth quarter. The statement confirms previous reports and leaks that Apple will not release the iPhone 12 series before October. Some observers now believe that Apple will not hold the presentation until the 10th month and not in September.
