Rumor has it that Apple is planning to introduce a brand new iPad Pro next year. Now a report has been published that discusses the 5G modem.

Rumors that the next iPad Pro will have a mini-LED display have been around for over a year. In addition to the A14X chip, the device could also have 5G. However, the modem is not supposed to come from Qualcomm but from Apple itself. The special thing about it is that it should have mmWave support. According to the Taiwanese news site DigiTimes experience that the AiP module (antenna in package), which is supposedly used in the next iPhone, will also be integrated into the high-end iPad.

The self-sufficiency in design and development of AiP modules also means that Apple's next-generation high-end iPad products, due to launch in 2021, may also feature mmWave technology, the sources said.

iPad Pro with miniLED display in early 2021?

As a reminder, there are two main 5G standards known as sub-6HGz and mmWave 5G. Sub-6 GHz is slower than mmWave 5G technology, but it has a longer range - suitable for rural areas. Since mmWave is faster but has a shorter range, this technology is more intended for large cities or urban areas. The iPhone 12 models available in the US market support mmWave. Devices in other markets only have sub-6HGz support. But that could change next year. Some analysts believe that Apple will integrate both standards in the next generation of iPhones. Be that as it may. Apple Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo explained already that production of MiniLED displays for the iPad Pro will start in the fourth quarter of 2020, with the market launch expected in the first half of 2021. DigiTimes has also already made this statement.
