Rumors about a new iPad Pro have been documented several times in recent weeks. Now a report has been published that goes into the design of the upcoming iPad Pro and iPad 9.

The Japanese Apple blog Macotakara wants details from Apple's supply chain about the design of the upcoming iPad models experience According to the report, the entry-level iPad of the 9th generation will have a similar design to the iPad Air 3. No design changes are reportedly planned for the iPad Pro. Apple introduced a completely new iPad Air of the fourth generation last year presented, which features a similar design to the iPad Pro. However, today's report says that the entry-level iPad, which will launch in 2021, will have a similar design to the third-generation iPad Air, which was originally introduced in 2019. The new 9th-generation iPad is expected to get the same 10.2-inch display as the 8th generation but will be significantly thinner and lighter:

iPad 9th generation: Update not expected before fall 2021

According to a Chinese supplier, the next iPad (9th generation) will likely be based on the iPad Air (3rd generation). The display size will remain the same as the iPad (8th generation) at 10.2 inches, but the thickness will be significantly thinner at 6.3 mm and the weight will be reduced to 460 g.

Sources say it will continue to use Touch ID, Lightning connectors, fully laminated displays, anti-reflective coating, P3 displays and True Tone.

Regarding the iPad Pro, the blog explained that a much faster processor is expected inside. According to this, performance should be "significantly improved". Rumors that the device will receive a miniLED panel were not commented on by Macotakara. While various sources currently assume that Apple will announce the iPad Pro in the first quarter of 2021, it remains unclear when the iPad 9 will be released. After all, the 8th generation of the entry-level tablet was only introduced in autumn 2020. Accordingly, an update is not expected before autumn 2021. (Photo by Iryna Imago / Bigstockphoto)
