Apple will most likely present iOS 13, macOS 10.15, watchOS 6 and tvOS 13 at the annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) - which begins on June 3rd. Now there is an indication that the iPad will get mouse support for the first time with iOS 13.

It's a feature that has been requested for a long time - iPad fans and especially professional users of the Apple tablet have been hoping for mouse support for years. Now the wait is over. According to Federico Viticci - a MacStories editor - the iPad will get mouse and trackpad support under iOS 13. According to the report, Apple will give the important feature to the iPad Pro series with a USB-C port. The extension should significantly improve professional workflows and bring the tablet closer to a PC replacement. Accordingly, users under iOS 13 can activate the new function in the settings under AssistiveTouch option. If a mouse is connected to the iPad Pro, a cursor appears that can be moved inside and outside of apps. Applications could be operated in a completely new way with such a function - Project Marzipan would also benefit from it.

Well-known developer confirms statement

The developer Steven Troughton-Smith has become very well known among Apple fans thanks to his countless leaks. Smith, along with several other developers, has often discovered new functions and products in Apple beta versions and also has reliable sources in Cupertino. He has also already announced mouse support for the iPad - according to him, trackpad support is also in the works. He could not say which models will actually be equipped with the new feature - and it also remains unknown how Apple actually intends to implement the whole thing. Smith believes that Apple could introduce a new Smart Keyboard Folio with an integrated trackpad - whether both will be right remains to be seen until further notice.

New features for iPads

According to an older report, the iPad will benefit more than ever from iOS 13. Among other things, Apple is planning the "Window" function. According to this, the user should be able to keep several tabs of a specific app open at the same time - similar to the principle of Safari on the Mac. Split View should also be taken into account. In addition to the interface, Apple wants to optimize file management. The undo function is also to be updated. Until now, users have had to shake their iPhone and iPad to be able to undo an action - with iOS 13, this should change for iPads. The feature is controlled with a new gesture. A three-finger tap with a swipe gesture on the keyboard area should trigger this command. Under iOS 13, Safari on iPads should also become more flexible - according to insiders, the user will be asked whether they want to see the mobile or desktop version of a website. This should prevent a forced switch to an app, such as YouTube.
