The rumors about the iPhone SE 4 are intensifying, and the technical details that have leaked so far point to an impressive upgrade. With a powerful A18 chip, a modern design and other exciting new features, the new SE model could be the most powerful budget iPhone yet.

For years, the iPhone SE has established itself as Apple's budget option, combining proven technologies with more affordable hardware to appeal to users looking for an iPhone experience at a lower price. But the current iPhone SE, which still looks a lot like the iPhone 8, has become outdated. With the iPhone SE 4, Apple could now open a new chapter - one that redefines the SE from the ground up.

A18 chip: More performance for the budget iPhone

The heart of the iPhone SE 4 is said to be the A18 chip. This information comes from a trusted insider who revealed the chip identifier “T8140” (via MacRumors). This identifier will be used for both the A18 and A18 Pro chips, with the standard version of the A18 expected for the SE model. The A18 chip would be a huge step up from the current A15 chip in the iPhone SE 3. It promises faster performance, better power efficiency, and optimized support for demanding applications. Additionally, it is speculated that the device could come with 8GB of RAM, which would significantly improve multitasking capabilities.

A new design: Get rid of the thick edges

The iPhone SE 4 could surprise with a completely new look. Instead of the classic home button and thick bezels, the new model will have a 6.1-inch OLED display reminiscent of the design of the iPhone 14. OLED displays offer more vibrant colors, deeper blacks and overall better image quality - a big improvement over the previous LCD panel. In addition, the SE 4 will be equipped with Face ID, which represents another step towards modernization. The Lightning port will be replaced by a USB-C port to comply with current EU specifications and enable broader compatibility.

Camera: 48 megapixels for impressive photos

The iPhone SE 4's camera will be another highlight. Rumor has it that it will include a 48-megapixel main camera, like the one found in the iPhone 15. This would allow Apple to take photography to a new level for its budget model. Users can look forward to sharper photos, better low-light shots, and improved video quality.

5G modem: Apple develops its own technology

Another exciting innovation concerns the 5G modem. For the first time, Apple is said to be integrating its own 5G modem into the iPhone SE 4. The company wants to make itself more independent of external suppliers such as Qualcomm. This could not only improve performance, but also reduce costs in the long term.

Availability and price

The iPhone SE 4 is expected to be introduced in March or April. This corresponds to the usual schedule for new product releases from Apple. The price of the current iPhone SE was 529 euros, but with the numerous new features, a slight price increase is likely. Experts expect a starting price of around 549 to 579 euros.

iPhone SE 4: High-end technology at an affordable price

The iPhone SE 4 could be the biggest upgrade in the history of the SE range yet. With an A18 chip, a modern design, Face ID and an impressive camera, it offers numerous features previously only found in more expensive models. While a slight price increase is likely, the SE 4 remains an affordable option for those looking for a powerful iPhone without a premium price tag. The excitement remains high, and it will be interesting to see how Apple turns the rumors into reality. (Image: Apple)
