While the A12 and A13 chips were manufactured using TSMC's 7nm process, the upcoming A-series chip is set to feature the latest chip design. Based on the 5nm manufacturing process, the A14 chip would receive a significant increase in performance and be more energy efficient. The new iPhone processor will be produced exclusively by TSMC as usual. But what about the current COVID-19 crisis? The Taiwanese news site DigiTimes has published a new article on this topic. DigiTimes explains in the paid article that the rumors that Apple asked the manufacturer TSMC to postpone production for two months are not true. This means that mass production of the new A-series chips should start in April as planned.

According to this, the most important component in the iPhone 12 should roll off the production line on time. Whether the information is correct remains to be seen, of course. After all, DigiTimes only has a mediocre success rate when it comes to Apple. The chip manufacturer TSMC has been Apple's exclusive supplier of A-series processors since 2016.
