Apple's top engineers are offered sizable stock bonuses worth up to $180,000 to prevent them from moving to other companies like Meta.
There appears to be a poaching war going on between Apple and Meta, the company formerly known as Facebook. Both companies are offering raises and bonuses to persuade talented engineers to leave or stay. In a new Bloomberg report It is now said that Apple's bonus offer is not only unusually high but also significant. Anonymous employees said that between 10 and 20 percent of engineers were approached with the bonuses. The seemingly random selection and the high amounts have angered some employees.
Apple tries to prevent poaching
The figures mentioned range from $50,000 to $180,000 in restricted stock, to be paid out over a four-year period. The bonuses appear to be a response to Meta's recent poaching of key engineers in Apple's AR, VR, wearables, and other divisions. According to Bloomberg, Meta has recruited about 100 engineers in this ongoing war "in recent months." Apple itself is also trying to poach talented engineers from other companies. For example, Meta's AR communications chief, Andrea Schubert, was recently hired. For many years, Apple's internal policies were a closely guarded secret.
