The well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has so far claimed that Apple wants to introduce augmented reality glasses in 2020. These should be seen as a kind of iPhone accessory - similar to the Apple Watch. But now a new report has emerged, according to which the process should look completely different. The paper The Information has published a report that contains new details on Apple's AR topic. According to the report, executives in Cupertino are said to have given a presentation to around 1,000 employees on the topic of augmented reality glasses. The news site claims to have learned that the presentation of a headset is planned for 2022. A year later - in 2023 - another model is to follow, namely augmented reality glasses. This means that it is not an AR product but two different devices. Until now, it was unclear whether it was glasses or a headset - previous iOS 13 leaks caused some confusion in this regard.
Apple's technology is more detailed than competing products
Apple's augmented reality headset, reportedly scheduled for 2022, is said to be similar to the Oculus Quest virtual reality headset unveiled by Facebook earlier this year. However, Apple's version is said to feature a much slimmer design with lighter materials to allow for pain-free wear for longer periods of time. According to the source, it will feature a high-resolution display and cameras to enable users to read small letters.
At the same time, other people can be shown in front of and behind virtual objects. During the presentation, it was said that Apple's technology will be able to map the surfaces, edges and dimensions of rooms with greater accuracy than existing devices on the market.
