The possible integration of Face ID under the screen in Apple's iPhone models has been the subject of much excitement and speculation for some time. However, according to the latest rumors, this innovative technology may still be a long way off.

Face ID, Apple's revolutionary biometric authentication process first introduced in the iPhone X, is set for a major evolution. The plan is to remove the visible Dynamic Island at the top of the screen and instead integrate Face ID under the screen. This move promises an even more seamless and aesthetically pleasing user experience. However, there are new developments that point to a possible delay in this technology.

The planned postponement

According to analyst Young, who is known for his accurate predictions in the tech industry, the implementation of Face ID under the screen will not take place in 2025 as originally expected but is now scheduled for 2026. setThis delay affects the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.

Reasons for the delay

The reasons for this delay are not entirely clear, but could be related to technical challenges or strategic decisions by Apple. Integrating Face ID under the screen requires a complex redesign of the front camera and associated sensors, which may require additional development time.

Technical developments in the iPhone 17 series

While the full integration of Face ID under the display is still delayed, other technological advances are imminent. For example, it is reported that the standard iPhone 17 models will switch from low-temperature polysilicon (LTPS) to low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO). This change enables an always-on display that optimizes battery life and has been used in the Pro models since the iPhone 14 Pro.

Outlook on the non-Pro models

The non-Pro models, like the future iPhone 19, which is expected to be released in late 2027, could receive the under-screen Face ID technology only after the Pro models. This staggered rollout allows Apple to test and optimize the technology in the more expensive models first.

Face ID Evolution: A Future Without Compromise

The development and implementation of under-screen Face ID is a fascinating example of how Apple is constantly striving to push the boundaries of technology. While fans may be disappointed by the delay, it shows that Apple is not willing to compromise on the quality and performance of its devices. The prospect of more seamless integration of biometric security features promises to fundamentally change the way we use our devices.
