Apple unveiled the Vision Pro, a mixed reality headset, at the WWDC keynote, but it comes with a hefty price tag of $3,500. But Apple is already planning to release a cheaper version of the Vision Pro. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, this more affordable AR/VR headset variant will be available by the end of 2025. Read on to learn more about Apple's plans and potential changes to bring the price down.

The cheaper version of the Vision Pro is expected to be called "Apple Vision" or "Apple Vision One". To reduce the price, some components and functions could be adjusted. Gurman explainedFor example, lower quality displays, a less powerful processor and a reduced number of cameras and sensors could be used. In addition, the spatial audio speakers could be removed to let users use their own AirPods Pro for sound.

A simpler headband design, a physical IPD setting, and the possible removal of the 3D camera are other changes that could help reduce costs. However, Gurman stresses that Apple will retain certain features, such as the external screen called EyeSight and the eye and hand tracking system, as these are essential to the Apple Vision. Although Apple's plans for a cheaper version of the Vision Pro are ambitious, it could still be a challenge to keep to the schedule. A launch is likely not expected until late 2025. Nevertheless, this report shows that Apple is underlining its commitment to wider availability of AR/VR technology and making an effort to make it accessible to more people. (Image: Apple)
