Rumors that Apple is working on a new, sixth-generation Apple TV have been around for many months. But what new features could be introduced?

There have already been reports that Apple wants to rework the remote control of the next Apple TV model. At one point it was claimed that the accessory would have the U1 chip and could thus be integrated into the "Find My" app. This would make the Siri Remote easier to find - even if it disappears between pillows and more, for example. Now reports the US blog 9to5mac, according to which the new Apple TV generation will actually get a brand new remote control. The US blog claims to have learned from an unnamed source that the product is known internally under the code name "B519". The current Siri Remote is said to be known under the name "B439".

Apple TV Remote Control: A Controversial Accessory

However, details about this new Apple TV remote are not yet known. Accordingly, the above rumors, which were first published by Bloomberg, remain unconfirmed. When Apple introduced the Apple TV 4K model in 2017, the Siri Remote had a small change with a white ring around the menu button, which made it easy to identify it as a new model. However, since the new remote has an internal model number that is much higher than the current version, it is safe to assume that the changes are more significant. The Siri Remote has always been a controversial accessory among Apple TV users. While some people love it, there are a significant number of users who hate it. Reasons given include easy loss, the lack of physical navigation buttons, and the glass surface.

tvOS 14.5: Apple changes the name of the Siri Remote

But there is another Noticethat Apple might actually rework the remote control. Last week, a change was discovered in the fifth beta of tvOS 14.5. According to the code, the name "Siri Remote" has been completely removed and replaced with "Apple Remote". This name was already used in some regions, but is now a standard for all users - which also indicates an upcoming change to the accessory. In addition to a new remote control, Apple's TV box is said to have more power and storage space. According to reports, Apple wants to pave the way for more power-intensive games. When the device could be presented remains unclear. (Photo by Masarik / Bigstockphoto)
