The AirPods were introduced on September 7, 2016 and have been on sale since December 2016. They are still very popular today. Now Apple is reportedly looking to expand its range.

Apple's own headphone selection is very clear. However, it will be expanded to include the acquired Beats brand. According to a new report from the news portal Bloomberg, Apple is planning to introduce its own over-ear headphones with the Apple logo. The launch is scheduled for the second half of 2019. Such a headphone model would be in direct competition with the company's own Beats brand - the consequences could be critical.

With noise-cancelling version

Bloomberg cites information from supplier circles. According to this, Apple's over-ear headphones will be equipped with noise cancellation. This is a noise suppression system that other manufacturers such as Sony and Co. already use. Further details about possible features are not yet known.

AirPods 2 coming soon

There is, however, much more information on the subject of AirPods 2. Portals such as DigiTimes are convinced that Apple will release a new generation of AirPods in the first half of 2019. This is also supported by star analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. In addition, only recently a hint found in the current iOS 12.2 beta. This can be seen as indirect confirmation of an imminent market launch.
