It has long been suspected that Apple is working on AR glasses. Now a report has surfaced that Cupertino has stopped developing iGlasses. The glasses were planned to be presented this year - according to rumors at the time.

It is an open secret that Apple is very interested in augmented reality - at the latest when Tim Cook publicly admitted his personal and Apple's interest, this fueled the rumors about augmented reality glasses. Over the last few years, several sources have claimed that Apple wants to introduce iGlass this year. Apple's research into such glasses has been confirmed by many patents. This was believed by star analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, among others - the well-informed Bloomberg journalist Gurman was also one of the sources. According to today's DigiTimes report, the project has now been canceled.

code name "T288"

The reason for this is unsolvable technical problems - but the platform was unable to give any specifics. DigiTimes has a mixed track record - which is why the rumor is viewed with skepticism for now. The glasses were supposed to run on iOS-based rOS and be controlled with a touchscreen, Siri voice activation and head movements. Internally, it was known under the code name "T288". As already mentioned, Tim Cook has expressed his interest in such a product several times and indirectly suggested iGlasses. Whether Apple has actually canceled development remains uncertain, of course - if more sources confirm the statements in the future, one can assume that the rumor is true.
