According to a new DigiTimes report, an Apple supplier is preparing to begin shipping lenses for Apple's upcoming mixed reality headset.

The report according to Genius Electronic Optical (GSEO) will supply lens modules for Apple's upcoming headset, rumored to be called "Reality Pro," and will begin shipping as early as next month.

Genius Electronic Optical (GSEO) will supply lens modules for VR headsets that Apple plans to launch in 2023, with shipments beginning in February/March 2023, according to GSEO supply chain managers.

Apple has been working on its AR/VR headset for several years, and it's set to launch this year. According to a timeline provided by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple will unveil the headset before WWDC in June. At WWDC, Apple will unveil its new operating system, xrOS, and show developers the new features before the headset launches in the fall.

Mixed reality headset could be called Apple Reality Pro

Apple's first mixed reality headset is widely expected to be a high-end niche product aimed at developers and professionals. The headset is rumored to come with several advanced technologies, including more than a dozen cameras that capture real-world motion and convert it into virtual motion, dual 4K micro-LED displays, iris scanners, facial expression tracking, powerful Apple Silicon chips, and more. The advanced nature of the headset will likely make it expensive, with rumors putting the price at around $3,000. The headset will be Apple's first step into a new AR/VR market and is just the beginning of Apple's roadmap. According to a new report this week, Apple is working on a lighter and cheaper version of the headset while the augmented reality glasses are postponed indefinitely.
