There are currently reports that Sony will be part of Apple's supply chain again - the reason is Apple Glass.
According to rumors, Sony is planning to develop special MicroOLED displays produceintended for Apple Glass. The brand-new product is expected to debut in early 2022. Ross Young, founder and CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants, claims to have learned from multiple sources that Apple has engaged Sony for AR/VR headset displays. The displays in question are half-inch MicroOLED panels with a resolution of 1280×960. This statement confirms an earlier report by Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun, which indicated that Sony would re-enter Apple's supply chain. Sony has experience manufacturing tiny displays for headset devices such as PlayStation VR and the Personal 3D Viewer. The Personal 3D Viewer, in particular, used separate OLED displays to display content, similar to how Apple Glass is expected to work.
