Apple is considering offering consumers larger iPad Pro models, although these may not be released for several years.
In the first issue of Bloomberg newsletters In "Power On," Mark Gurman claims that Apple is currently considering future iPad designs with larger displays. The current iPad Pro offers a maximum screen size of 12.9 inches. Gurman says any change in iPad screen size is at least "a few years in the future" and hasn't yet left the exploratory phase. Furthermore, Apple is still reportedly developing a redesigned iPad chassis with a glass back for 2022, which will ship in the existing 11-inch and 12.9-inch screen sizes. Gurman speculates that larger screens could further blur the line between Apple's tablet lineup and its laptop lineup.
New iPad Pro could charge iPhone & AirPods
As productivity on iPadOS increases, so does the demand for more screen space to get work done and support multitasking applications. Today, Apple's largest mobile computer is the 16-inch MacBook Pro. As for the aforementioned redesign of the iPad in 2022, Bloomberg previously reported that Apple is developing a new iPad (Pro) body with a glass back. This would enable wireless charging on the iPad for the first time. Interestingly, the change could also support a reverse wireless charging feature, where the iPad would be able to inductively charge an iPhone or a set of AirPods placed on it.
