Tonight, Apple will host the "Spring Loaded" event and unveil new products. After more than two years of rumors, some believe that Apple will also unveil the AirTags. Now, new accessories have been discovered.

The AirTags were originally discovered in an early beta of iOS 13 in the summer of 2019. Since then, we have been regularly accompanied by rumors and leaks on the subject. Will Apple present the new trackers tonight? That remains unclear, as the statements of various leakers and analysts contradict each other. Be that as it may. Now pictures of new accessories have appeared on Weibo surfacedStrictly speaking, the images shared by leaker UnclePan show a kind of AirTags pendant. These appear to be made of silicone. It is currently suspected, however, that the accessories do not come from Apple but from third-party suppliers.

AirTags rely on Find My network

As a reminder, a Bloomberg report from last year said that Apple is developing its own AirTags accessories, including a leather case and a keychain. AirTags are designed to be attached to valuable items, such as a keychain, and they feature Bluetooth and ultra-wideband, and participate in the Find My network. The AirTag sends its unique ID into the ether, which can be received by any nearby iOS device or Mac. Your location is then visible in the Find My app to the actual owner of the tags. This behavior is largely in line with what other Bluetooth trackers offer. However, the AirTags go even further thanks to the built-in ultra-wideband chip.

AirTags search also supports augmented reality

The UWB chip enables precise positioning of a location indicator when the device is within a radius of about 20 meters. Code leaks suggest that there will be an AR experience in the "Find My" app that allows the user to hold up their iPhone and see an arrow pointing directly to the location of the object in augmented reality. Whether Apple will finally introduce the new trackers remains to be seen, of course. As always, we will report in detail on Apple's event and all the new features associated with it. (Image: Apple)

Apple devices here are not test units on loan for two weeks but everyday tools: from the iPhone through MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
