Apple is reportedly working on a new version of the AirPods Pro that will not only be technically advanced but will also be equipped with innovative health features. According to reports, the AirPods Pro 3 could come onto the market with heart rate monitoring and temperature sensors. These features could make the AirPods an indispensable companion for fitness and health conscious people.

The AirPods Pro are among the most popular wireless headphones on the market and Apple is constantly working to make them even better. According to tech expert Mark Gurman from Bloomberg The AirPods Pro 3 are still in the development phase, but there are already exciting hints about what functions they could offer. The focus is particularly on features that put your health and fitness at the forefront.

Heart rate measurement: Always keep an eye on your pulse

One of the outstanding new features expected for the AirPods Pro 3 is the ability to measure heart rate. According to Gurman, the new AirPods could offer this feature, which would be a huge advantage especially for fitness enthusiasts. This would allow you to track your pulse during exercise or in everyday life without having to wear an additional Apple Watch. Apple has found in internal tests that the heart rate measurements on the Apple Watch are currently even more accurate than on the AirPods. Nevertheless, the AirPods are not far from this precision. If Apple continues to optimize the technology, this could be a decisive step for users who want to easily monitor their health data.

Temperature Sensors: More than Just Music

In addition to heart rate measurement, there is speculation that the AirPods Pro 3 could also contain temperature sensors. These sensors would allow you to measure your body temperature. This would be a practical function for detecting possible health problems at an early stage, such as fever or fluctuations that could indicate stress.

Comparison: Competition from Powerbeats Pro 2

The planned health functions of the AirPods Pro 3 are not alone. Apple's upcoming Powerbeats Pro 2 are also said to be equipped with a heart rate monitor. According to iOS 18 code, these should even be compatible with fitness equipment such as treadmills to monitor heart rate in real time and transfer the data directly to your iPhone's Health app. The Powerbeats Pro 2 are due to be released in 2025, while a release date for the AirPods Pro 3 is not yet known. However, fall 2025 is hotly tipped. However, if Apple plans similar fitness features for both models, an exciting comparison between these two product lines could emerge.

Vision of the future: AI-supported functions

Another topic Gurman addresses is the possibility that future AirPods models could be equipped with small cameras. These are intended to enable AI-supported functions, although details are still unclear. What is clear, however, is that Apple is working on such innovations, which could make the AirPods even more versatile devices in the long term. While this project is not a priority at the moment, it shows where things could go.

Challenges and Development

The development of the AirPods Pro 3 is reportedly in an early phase. This means that some of the planned features may not be integrated until later or may be further tested by Apple first. Nevertheless, this report underlines Apple's commitment to positioning the AirPods not only as an audio device but also as a health and fitness gadget.

AirPods Pro 3: Progress for fitness and everyday life

The planned AirPods Pro 3 could once again revolutionize the market for wireless headphones. By integrating health functions such as heart rate monitoring and temperature sensors, Apple would make the AirPods a practical and versatile companion that goes far beyond pure audio playback. Although the accuracy of the heart rate measurement does not yet match that of the Apple Watch, Apple shows that it is working on a more comprehensive solution. Combined with the future possibilities of AI-supported functions, this model could mark the beginning of a completely new era for wearables. (Photo by Mehaniq / Bigstockphoto)
