Rumor has it that Apple is planning to introduce the AirPods Pro 2 this year. There have been different statements regarding the release date so far.

The AirPods Pro 2 are said to be released this year. It is currently not known what new features they will have. However, some observers assume that the Pro version of the popular earbuds will be redesigned. But when will they be released? According to some reports, Apple could present the new audio accessories in the second half of the year. But there are also reports that suggest an earlier date, including DigiTimes. The Taiwanese news site believes that Apple will present the second generation of AirPods Pro in the first half of the year. is called it in the publication:

Winbond is also expected to be one of the NOR flash suppliers for Apple's next-generation AirPods Pro, which are due to be released later in the first half of this year, the sources said. The Taiwanese chipmaker will run its NOR flash production lines at near full capacity during the six-month period.

AirPods Pro 2: Will Apple make the case smaller?

Japanese Apple blog Macotakara has already claimed that Apple plans to unveil new AirPods in April, along with a new third-generation iPhone SE. Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman has given more details regarding the redesign in an earlier article. Statements from his sources suggest that the second generation of AirPods Pro will have a more compact design that eliminates the short stem that protrudes from the bottom. The new Pro version of the earbuds could have a rounded shape that is more similar to earbuds from companies like Google and Samsung. (Photo by Eremin / Bigstockphoto)
