Apple released iOS 12 on September 17th. With this major update, the iCompany promises primarily better performance and more stability. Of course, the update also contains a few new features. However, a dangerous security hole has now emerged.
These vulnerabilities mean that locked iPhones with iOS 12 can still be hacked. This means attackers can bypass the code lock and access contacts and photos. An Apple fan named Jose Rodriguez discovered this bug and uploaded it to his YouTube channel Videosdebarraquito. There are 37 steps to complete this hack.
Various international media have tested this process positively. The result: All iPhone models under iOS 12 are affected - including the new premium smartphones iPhone Xs / Xs Max.
Siri plays an important role
For this hack to be successful, the attacker must have physical access to the device and Siri must be activated. The Voiceover function plays a central role here. On iPhones with Face ID, simply covering the sensor is enough. Apple recently took steps to combat the problem - but apparently not thoroughly enough. Similar security holes have already been discovered in iOS 9 and iOS 10.
