Apple today released the third beta of iOS 14.6 to developers, which brings only a few minor changes compared to the major iOS 14.5 update. However, users of the Find My app will notice that it is now possible to use an email address to put an AirTag or other Find My Network-compatible item into Lost Mode.
If a user loses an AirTag or another item added to the Find My app, they can put the item into Lost Mode, which means the item will display a message with the phone number to the person who finds it. Under With iOS 14.6, Apple adds more options to the Lost Mode of the Find My app. As 9to5Mac noted , users will now see an option to choose whether to use a phone number or an email address to enable Lost Mode for an item. Just like with the phone number, the Find My app tells the user that the email will be visible to anyone who finds the AirTag or another item with Lost Mode enabled.
iOS 14.6 Lost Mode: Users must choose
Enter an email address in case someone finds your item and wants to contact you. Once you enable Lost Mode, this email address will be visible to the person who finds your item. This allows others to contact you if your lost items are found.
At least for now, there is no way to set a phone number and an email address combined, which means that users can only select one of the options to activate Lost Mode.
