Under the motto “The Future of Gaming”, Sony has released some PlayStation 5 titles presented. In the end, the console was finally revealed – this is what the PlayStation 5 looks like.
Sony has sold over 110 million PlayStation 4 consoles over the years, and now it's time to move on to the next generation. While Sony revealed some specifications for the new PS5 in March, the brand new DualSense controller with haptic feedback was introduced in April. Now the console itself is finally here. In short - the design is really impressive. The console will be available in two versions - one with a drive and one as a "Digital Edition", i.e. without a drive. Sony explains:
At launch, we will offer two options: a PlayStation®5 console with an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive and a PlayStation®5 Digital Edition without a disc drive. The PS5 gameplay experience will be the same, so the choice is yours. While there are some slight differences in the look of each model, for the overall design, we wanted to deliver a console that is bold, stunning and different from any previous generation PlayStation model.
The price remains secret
In addition to the console and the DualSense controller, there will be a new wireless headset, a 3D camera and a remote control. There will also be a charging station for the joysticks.
Sony did not mention prices, however. Inside the next generation PlayStation there will be a system-on-chip (SoC). To be precise, a Zen 2 processor with eight cores has been installed, with a clock speed of up to 3.5 GHz. Sony has opted for a total of 16 GB of RAM. An 825 GB SSD has also been installed. It has its own controller that is linked to the RAM to increase loading times and reduce the RAM requirement itself. According to Sony, the GPU should calculate significantly faster thanks to the modern RDNA 2 architecture and overall high clock speed. When the prices will be revealed and pre-orders accepted remains unknown until further notice.
