Call of Duty Mobile was officially rolled out on iOS and Android last week - in the first three days alone there were reportedly around 35 million downloads. Now a new estimate is available.
The storm on the game pushed the servers to their limits in the first few days, but things have now calmed down and are developing into an App Store hit. In the first 72 hours, the new mobile shooter is said to have been downloaded over 35 million times. Now there is a new estimate. According to Sensor Towers, Call of Duty Mobile generated a whopping 100 million downloads on iOS and Android in its first week – if the company is correct, this would be a new record. The report claims this is “the best launch of any mobile game ever”. By comparison, Fortnite was downloaded around 22.5 million times on the iOS App Store in its first week – it was not available for Android at the time.
“iOS leading in several disciplines”
PUBG Mobile achieved around 28 million downloads – on iOS and Android combined. Not to mention: Mario Kart Tour was downloaded 90 million times in its first week. The estimate also shows a clear split between iOS and Android. According to the estimate, Call of Duty Mobile was downloaded around 56.9 million times on iOS devices, while Android "only" achieved 45.3 million downloads. Sensor Towers writes:
"Activision's shooter was most popular in the United States, where it was downloaded nearly 17.3 million times, or 16.9% of the total. India followed with 13.7 million downloads, or 13.4%, followed by Brazil with 7.1 million downloads, or 7.1%."
iOS is also said to be the leader in terms of revenue. iPhone and iPad players brought in around 9.1 million US dollars, while the Android camp generated around 8.3 million US dollars in revenue. The game can be downloaded for free in iOS App Store and Google Play Store In-app purchases start at €0.99, with the largest package costing €109.99. The new shooter includes full, competitive head-to-head multiplayer modes and a brand new Battle Royale experience, including classic Call of Duty locations with land, sea and air vehicles.
