In recent days and weeks, there have been repeated reports about new iPad Pro models. Now the latest beta of iOS 14.5 has revealed the "A14X" processor.

According to rumors, Apple will soon update the iPad Pro. The so-called “A14X” processor will be used. Now the current iOS 14.5 beta has revealed the new chip, which reported 9to5mac. Every Apple chip is known to be internally identified with a codename and that's where the fifth beta of iOS 14.5 comes into play. The latest iPhone and iPad update contains references to a GPU from a chip called "13G," which is not used by any of the currently available iOS devices. Based on the previous chip naming schemes, it is now safe to assume that "13G" is the brand new A14X chip, a variant of the A14 Bionic chip. As 9to5mac explains, research has shown that the A14X is based on the T8103, which is the codename for the Apple M1 chip that was used in the first Apple Silicon Macs.

A14X processor: New iPad Pro models expected in April

Interestingly, the discovery confirms a previous statement by Bloomberg that the new processor will be used in the next generation of the iPad Pro. According to Bloomberg, the chip is on par with the M1 processor. Since current rumors only suggest new iPad Pro models in the iOS device sector, it can be assumed that the processor is intended for these devices. In addition, 9to5mac explains that the new tablets have been deposited under the code names J517, J518, J522 and J523. Accordingly, the new references in the iOS 14.5 code indicate an imminent launch. Based on recent rumors, new iPad Pro models will be introduced sometime in April. The devices are expected to come with a Thunderbolt port, better cameras and a miniLED display for the 12.9″ model. (Photo by Putilov Denis / Bigstockphoto)
