The upcoming iPhone 15 is already causing excitement among us Apple fans and photography enthusiasts. There is a rumor that says that all models of the iPhone 15 will be equipped with an impressive 48 megapixels. After we already had the iPhone 14 Pro with such a high-resolution camera, this powerful technology could now be used in the entire iPhone 15 product line. This means that in the future we will be able to take stunning photos and videos with our iPhone.

The latest rumor about the iPhone 15 camera comes from by ITHome, a trusted source for Apple information. According to the report, Sony, the renowned camera manufacturer for Apple, has turned to TSMC to meet the increased demands. Due to "lack of production capacity," Sony asked TSMC for assistance in manufacturing components such as color filter films for the iPhone 15's camera units.

iPhone 15 Rumor: Complete Upgrade to 48 Megapixel Camera System

Rumors suggest that Apple is planning a major camera system upgrade to 48 megapixels for the entire iPhone 15 product line, not just the Pro models. This move has greatly increased demand for the corresponding hardware components and put pressure on Sony. In response, Sony is considering expanding its back-end process and has already awarded contracts to other companies such as TSMC last year to avoid bottlenecks. Sony's move to a more complex camera structure also plays a role. The company has switched from a two-layer to a three-layer design. This advanced technology is based on stacking technology, which stacks photodiodes and amplifier circuits on top of each other. Through this process, Sony's cameras benefit from higher sensitivity and an improved signal-to-noise ratio, resulting in high-quality photos with lower image noise. The collaboration with TSMC is of great importance to cope with the increasing demand for the iPhone 15's camera systems.

New Standards

TSMC will be responsible for manufacturing components such as photodiodes and logic layers, while companies such as Tongxin Electronics and Caiyu will be tasked with back-end manufacturing. These collaborations are designed to ensure that the production of the camera modules runs smoothly and can meet our needs as a market. The rumors surrounding the iPhone 15 and its 48-megapixel cameras are generating anticipation and excitement. Apple continues its efforts to push the boundaries of smartphone photography and provide us with an outstanding visual experience. Although there may be supply shortages, it is likely that Apple will overcome these challenges and launch the iPhone 15 as planned. Look forward to a potentially revolutionary smartphone equipped with high-resolution cameras that will open up new possibilities for your photography skills.
