Apple traditionally presents its new operating systems every year at the WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference). The first devices with iOS 13 have now been spotted on the web.
This year, Apple should introduce the next major iOS version - iOS 13. After iOS 12 was supposed to be a pure performance update with only a few new features, according to Apple, iOS 13 is eagerly awaited. The main focus of iOS 12 was, among other things, on optimizing performance and improving battery life. Now the expectations for iOS 13 are particularly high - to the new iOS 13 features For example, Dark Mode is supposed to be included. But what about compatibility? Which iPhone or iPad devices will be compatible with iOS 13? Many people are asking this question, especially users of older models. There have already been plenty of rumors that entire iPhone and iPad line-ups are about to be discontinued. But now the French Apple blog iPhonesoft.fr claims to have found out concrete details about this.
Best-selling iPhone generation coming to an end?
According to the report, four iPhone models will be retired with iOS 13. As a result, support for the iPhone 5S, iPhone SE, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will be discontinued. The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, first introduced in 2014, were incredibly successful for Apple and are still considered the best-selling iPhone generation - many fans still actively use the devices today. If the rumor turns out to be true, the iPhone 5S would have had a longer update service than the sixth generation of the popular smartphone. However, users of an iPhone SE would be the clear losers in this race - the iPhone Special Edition was first introduced in 2016. Whether this will actually be the case remains to be seen, of course - some observers have long believed that Apple wants to stop supporting 4" devices with iOS 13. The iPad line will not be left untouched either. According to the report, the iPad mini 2 and the iPad Air (2013) will not receive iOS 13 support.
This year's WWDC 2019 (World Wide Developer Conference) will take place from June 3rd to 7th at the McEnery Convention Center, San Jose.
