As is well known, the coronavirus is presenting Apple with new challenges. The company continues to struggle with production problems.

According to a new Reuters report, both Samsung and LG Innotek have had to close assembly plants in South Korea. The problem is that LG Innotek manufactures the camera modules for the iPhone. Reuters assumes that the camera modules for the upcoming iPhone 12 are to be manufactured. Accordingly, there are not only delays in the current iPhone generation - the upcoming lineup could also be affected. According to the source, one of the employees is said to have been infected with the coronavirus. The factories are located in Gumi, which is near Daegu. Most coronavirus cases in South Korea have been detected there so far. According to Reuters, the facilities are to be disinfected on Monday - but it is unclear whether production will resume on Tuesday.

Tim Cook was already optimistic

If the closure is only short-term, there will be hardly any negative effects. Apple boss Tim Cook has already appeared very optimistic in an interview with Fox News. He believes that China will get the whole thing under control very soon. In the course of this, he emphasized that various components for Apple products are manufactured all over the world and not just in China. (Photo by ismagilov / Bigstockphoto)

I feel like China is getting the coronavirus under control. I mean, if you look at the numbers, they're going down day by day. And that's why I'm very optimistic there.

Apple devices here are not test units on loan for two weeks but everyday tools: from the iPhone through MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
