According to a new analyst report, Apple could start a new presentation cycle as early as 2021 – there would be two iPhone events per year.

The JPMorgan bank has published an analysis that suggests a new iPhone cycle. According to the analysts, there are serious indications from supplier circles that Apple could hold two iPhone events per year from 2021 onwards. According to them, new iPhone models could be presented in the first and second half of the year. As a reminder, the iPhone 4S was the last flagship to be presented in the summer. If Apple does indeed take this route, it would bring the presentation schedule into line with that of Samsung. The South Korean company usually releases the Galaxy line in the spring, while the Note series is presented in the fall.

A sensible step

The information comes from supplier circles and indicates this strategic change. JPMorgan believes that Apple could present two iPhone models per event. It is possible that two of the cheaper devices will be presented in the spring, while the flagships follow in the fall. But Apple currently only presents three devices per year. This means that Apple could update the iPhone SE line annually in the future or replace it with a completely new series. As a reminder: the successor to the iPhone SE is expected as early as spring 2020. According to analysts, this change would promote consistent iPhone sales. So far, most iPhone sales have been in the second half of the year - while the first half of the year suffers from major fluctuations. Two iPhone events a year would therefore result in a certain level of sales stability. Whether JPMorgan will ultimately be right with its analysis remains to be seen for now - one thing is clear: the step would make sense. (Photo by Dontree / Bigstockphoto)
