iPhone 12 in Europe: Apple changes position of CE symbol

While iPhone devices in the US do not have any visible regulatory markings, devices in Europe must have the CE symbol on the outside. Now Apple has repositioned the marking on the iPhone 12 series.

In the USA, iPhone devices have regulatory symbols in electronic form. This means that they are not stored on the back of the device but in the settings. The reason for this is a law passed in 2014. In Europe, however, the regulatory CE mark is printed on the device - in some cases an unsightly sight, as is the case with the iPhone. Until now, Apple has printed the symbol on the back of the iPhone. This year, all of this is changing.

iPhone 12: The meaning of the CE marking

As can be seen in some pictures, the CE marking on the iPhone 12 series has been laser etched into the bottom right side of the devices. The engraving includes the "CE" symbol, a marking that means it complies with health, safety and environmental protection standards for products sold within the European Economic Area. Most products sold in Europe must meet the legal requirements for the CE marking and must also carry it. Whether the engraving on the side will be better received than on the back remains to be seen. However, since most users use a case, it shouldn't be a problem anyway. (Image: Apple)
